The Mazarin project is a sensitive urban densification operation that respects local heritage. Located in the Ville-Émard district, the site was home to an abandoned shoebox with strong heritage value, typical of Montreal working-class architecture from the early 20ᵉ century.

The objective: to demolish cleanly,then rebuild two adjacent duplexes, while respecting the City's heritage requirements.

The major challenge lay in preserving the original character of the building on one of the two lots. To achieve this, the Seragos team faithfully reproduced the historic cornice,and integrated traditional masonry elements, balanced fenestration and brickwork reminiscent of the period architecture - while ensuring a contemporary level of finish on the interior.

In just 4 monthsthe entire project was completed, delivering two modern duplexes totalling 8400 ft²,combining respect for the past with the comfort of the present.
